Prof Santamarina challenged the group to be bold and produce research that is not more- of- the- same. It must be curiosity-driven, wild and above all contain scientific depth. We have a unique opportunity at KAUST and within the Kingdom to be catalysts of great developments. Led by Postdocs, smaller groups brainstormed the most important research questions that should be addressed in their research areas and also discussed key scientific foundations that require resolution. The retreat was a lovely opportunity to get to know each other (and play some golf!), further explore our research and to discuss our visions for the new laboratory, focusing on equipment and devices that will enhance our research.
