EGEL PhD students Adrian Garcia, Rached Rached, Shen Yuanjie and Alejandro Cardona Ramirez and Professor J.Carlos Santamarina attended the Alliance of Laboratories in Europe for Education, Research and Technology (ALERT) Annual Meeting in Aussois, France. This meeting provided delegates with the opportunity to collaborate with students and geotechnical leaders and to further advance their knowledge of multiphase flow, critical state soil mechanics and modeling of the large deformation response in geomaterials. In addition, students attended the Doctoral School which focused on the Discrete Element Method, a technique highly suitable to predict and model granular media behavior. The experience was highly recommended to others.
