Self-assembly occurs at all scales in nature, from the arrangement of atoms into crystals to the assembly of proteins into viral capsules. Inspired by these processes, KAUST researchers Ahmed Hafez Abdelaziz, Qi Liu and J. Carlos Santamarina explored the self-assembly of millimeter scale two-component magnetic particles to form complex structures. Results provide new insights to the understanding of self-assembly in natural systems and open new possibilities for industrial applications. Click here to read the article.
